Tower Flower Power

Just a quick one this week…

Firstly I wanted to show you the dress I bought in Tesco a couple of weeks ago. It’s absolutely gorgeous.

And a bargain at £25, but even more of a bargain as I bought it in their 25% off sale, so it was only £18.75

There are loads of white sun dresses in the shops now. I particularly liked this one from Maje, that I saw in London on Saturday. But as I already had one and my budget wouldn’t stretch to the Maje one I think mine is a good enough dupe.

White is always a bold choice for someone with a stoma, but life is for living to the full and making bold decisions. :)

We headed into London for the flowers at the Tower of London - Superbloom, with Ben and Kaitlyn.

Chris booked it for us, I hadn’t actually heard about it till he mentioned it. But I’m so glad he did.

If you were thinking about going, or come to that even if you weren’t, I’d highly recommend it.

It’s really very beautiful. It’s a permanent installation as far as I know. Which is such a good idea. The grass moat wasn’t bringing in wildlife, but this will. We saw plenty of butterflies and bees already enjoying the blooms.

As it was going to be quiet a long day I took a big bag, with plenty of stoma supplies and a spare pair of shoes. :)

It’s a spectacular display, it’s not quite fully in bloom yet, so Chris and I will head back there in a few weeks time. But even now it’s glorious and doing good.

As someone with a stoma, I’m not very green or planet friendly. I unfortunately have to rely on a lot of single use plastics, plus I love flying off to beautiful places.

So when I get the chance to do something that is good for the planet I will. Every little helps I guess.

I’ve planted masses of insect attracting plants in the garden. I’m not a gardener but I do love flowers. Whether I can keep them alive is a completely different story.

Plus I shop from this brilliant little eco shop (disclaimer - this shop is run by my very clever daughter in law. She’s not a mung bean eating tree hugger or anything, she’s just a dedicated mum trying to make a better world for her son, and for all of us).

She sells great homewares, so I have no excuse not to cut down on other single use plastic around the house, even if I need to use stoma bags daily.

One of the highlights of the flowers at the tower is the slide.

I mean, who doesn’t love a giant slide? :)

Chris mentioned there was a slide so I wore cycling shorts under my dress.

I felt pretty exhilarated after, and I have been mulling over going on that really giant slide at Stratford shopping centre…

I’m just not quite sure I want that much exhilaration though. Although I suppose I am lucky that I have a colostomy for just in case the fear gets too much for me. ;)

We headed for drinks after at a roof top bar near the tower.

I love London, it’s a fantastic city. Find yourself a good rooftop bar on a good day and it’s pretty hard to beat.

I’ve been enjoying the good weather here. I’m very lucky that I don’t have to do too much extra care for my colostomy in hot weather.

I don’t dehydrate any more than someone without a stoma. My colostomy is very easy to use, I’m a big fan! :)

I got up early, not my favourite thing to do, but I wanted to go to the week day car boot sale that I visit sometimes.

I did bag myself some bargains too, so the early start was worth it.

I wanted some sea shells for a table scape I have in my head. And I found a beautiful shell there. It was covered in what I can only describe as cradle cap…yeah, I know, I don’t think shells get cradle cap either, but this shell looked like it had it.

I came home and brushed it up and it’s turned out pretty well. And I didn’t break the bank, and I didn’t break the shell, which is a miracle in itself!

Delicate I ain’t. :)

Shells of this size sell on EBay for £25 upwards.

This one was £7.

I created a beautiful table scape for dinner with friends. I haven’t used the shell yet, that’s being saved for a special occasion.
