Anyone who thinks that I think I am perfect or my life is perfect please read on.
First off there is no perfection on this planet. Doesn’t exist. It’s a myth, it’s hype. It’s a lie created mostly to sell you things, to make you believe there is a perfect life.
What there is are a series of events that you get to choose how to react to them.
For example I had a run of interesting things happen to me last week.
I could have curled up and cried, the temptation was there. But no, I told friends and we laughed and that’s pretty perfect to me. :)
So this one isn’t for the squeamish;
I was getting ready to go out last week, I’d had my shower and was just on my bag change.
I took said stoma bag off, and it was at this point realised I had run out of spares in the bathroom.
So I held paper towel over my naked stoma, whilst I popped to the spare room to get a new box of bags.
Forgetting that I was meant to hold the tissue in place to prevent accidents (can you see where this is heading? Hahahahaha)…I then opened the cupboard to get the box of stoma bags out - with both hands…in the blink of an eye I realised I had let go of my stoma, which then proceeded to poop on the carpet!! Oh it gets better!!…which I then trod in…barefoot!!!!!
What a way to start the day!
Someone once said to me that I always look so glamorous! Hahahahaha! Yep, sooooooo glam!!
Although I certainly didn’t feel glamorous clearing all that up and then scrubbing the carpet with bleach (thank god for polypropylene, bleachable carpets I say! Not that I bought it with the intention of pooing on it!).
So no, life isn’t perfect, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be perfectly happy. My friends have enjoyed the tale of this mishap very much! Hahahahaha. So happy to be of service.
Then Friday I had an emergency dental appointment due to severe pain in one of my teeth.
Now, just to add, when I went to the dentist the other day the woman who had been in before had come out crying. I was all “good lord what could there be to cry about at the dentist!?”
Well, as it turns out I found out personally. The emergency dentist tells me that I have a crack in my tooth. The best hope is root canal treatment (something I’ve been phobic of for years, I’ve never had it before, you understand, it’s just the name of it that leaves me shaking). That’s actually the best hope, because it’s likely that it can’t be done as the root is twisted, so they’ll have to remove the tooth entirely!! I’m 48 not 98!!
I did not expect to be losing teeth right now!
The dentist said that to help solve the problem in the meantime he would grind off some of the offending tooth so it didn’t catch and cause pain when I eat. I nearly passed out at the thought of this but I was in a lot of pain, so I went for it.
Just thinking about it is causing shudders through my entire being.
I didn’t cry, but I certainly was thinking about having one to be honest.
I thought I know. I’ll cheer myself up, I’ll ring the shop I took my watch into a few weeks back in London, and if it was back after being sent away, I’d ask Chris if we could go up town to pick it up and perhaps have a mooch about while we’re up there.
I spoke to the man at the shop who informed me my watch wouldn’t be back for collection until the end of October. Apparently it takes 8-9 weeks to put a new battery in!! How is that even a thing!! A new battery is seconds worth of work. Minutes if you’re a bit shaky I reckon, but 9 weeks is ridiculous.
They do say bad luck comes in threes. Nothing life changing (apart from my possible gummy eating from now on). But I really hope that is it for now.
Anyway, I was feeling pretty down in the dumps about the tooth extravaganza. So Chris suggested we head into London for lunch anyway. I text our friends James and Tanya to see if they wanted to try Madhus 2 Go, in Harvey Nic’s.
Tanya couldn’t make it, but James could, so that’s what we did.
This is the third Madhus we’ve tried. They are all incredible!
I think this one might just be my favourite though.
It was a take away service, but they have changed it to a dining in restaurant, on the fifth floor of Harvey Nics.
Chris and I have been friends with James for over 20 years. But it has been 10 years since we first started Curry Club. James was at a loose end one night so I said “come over for a curry”. And he did, weekly for years. Then other people came too and joined the group.
It’s been an amazing ten years.
But the original Curry Club is us three and my sons.
What fun we’ve had over the years. And I can’t think of a better way to celebrate this milestone than with an impromptu Curry.
The food in Madhus 2 Go is amazing! My favourite dish was this spinach dish. We ordered a second portion it was so good.
Honestly it’s a taste sensation! All the food is.
I can recommend the vegetarian and non vegetarian Thali (a collection of dishes in a smaller size, served on a brass platter).
The daal is off the chart good! I love Indian food because you can easily go without meat, but never without taste.
We went from Harvey Nics over to park the car in St James, for dessert in Fortnum and Mason. Why the change of location? Well a few months back we all went to F&M for dessert and I decided to sit pudding out. And I can’t stop thinking about missing out on it!!
So I made up for lost time and had TWO!! :)
Fortnums have their Christmas decorations out, so if you are in town it’s well worth a visit.
We then went for a stroll…someone needed to walk off their lunch and puddings…it was me! I needed to walk it off!! ;)
I picked up the book I had ordered in Waterstones in Piccadilly. And then had a slow meander back to near where the car was parked.
We happened to be passing by Chutney Mary, so we stopped off for mango lassi and coconuts. Rude not to really. :)
My top 3 places for Indian food are ;
India
Chutney Mary
All of the Madhus :)
We had a fantastic day out. And with my newly ground down tooth (I still can’t get over that happened by the way), I was able to eat without too much pain.
Sunday was very exciting too. Sam, Milly and Zak had been due to come and stay at ours for the weekend but Zak went down with croup (a nasty chest infection). He was so poorly we couldn’t expect him to come to ours.
So we went to spend some time with him at his house.
We had a lovely lunch. a nice walk, we fed the ducks, we went to the park. And I can’t think of a more perfect way to spend a Sunday.
I am glad I wore massive pants (under short dresses I wear men’s underwear. So cosy and great coverage). :)
He was a lot better by then, he’s hilarious company. He’s really speaking more and more now. Everything he says is just adorable. I am somewhat biased of course.

Chris and I have been using my She Shed a lot. I said to him the other day that I would serve dinner ‘American style’. He was confused, but he lives most of his life confused by me.
“What’s ‘American Style?’” he says.
“You know, all Americans serve dinner in a big bowl or platter and everyone helps themselves at the table”.
I have no idea if this is what actually happens in general, in every day life in America, but it’s how food is served on every TV show and movie, and in my mind’s eye that’s how everyone eats there.
He says he’s never noticed before.
We then came in to watch the end of a Jack Nicholson film we’d started a while back…and guess what? They had dinner American Style!!
I like it. It makes me feel all fancy and exotic. :)
Actually dining in my new shed makes me feel fancy anyway. I absolutely love it!
Stay safe, keep well xx
